Sheen Memorial Chapel and Ararat Eskijian Museum
The Sheen Memorial Chapel is located across from the Residential Care Facility, separated by a courtyard. The chapel is a 245-seat inter-denominational place of worship which serves the spiritual needs of the residents. Services are often conducted by visiting Ministers and Priests. The Chapel is also used for weddings, baptisms and memorial services by the Armenian community.
The ground floor of the Chapel houses The Ararat Eskijian Museum, which displays the art, music, literature, culture and history of the Armenian people.
The Herb Tertzag courtyard between the Sheen Memorial Chapel and the Residential Care Facility, which also houses the Deukmejian Grand Ballroom and various other meeting rooms, is a gathering place for residents and their families. It is also the site of the Ararat Home's annual picnic which takes place on the last Sunday in September. The courtyard contains the map of historical Armenia etched in marble and surrounded by memorial bricks. Check it out to see if your ancestor's town or city is on the map.
